Zachary Zarnow is currently a Principal Court Management Consultant at the National Center for State Courts. Before that, they were a Senior Researcher at the American Bar Association's Commission on the American Jury, and before that, they were the Jury Trial Project Manager/Jury Analyst at the Council for Court Excellence.
Mr. Zarnow has extensive experience in research, policy analysis, and project management related to jury systems. Zachary has conducted nationwide research on best practices and innovations in jury systems, and has also examined current practice through court observations, interviews, focus groups, surveys, and policy research. Zachary has drafted policy recommendations and project reports, and has represented their projects at public functions and during outreach activities.
In October of 2017, the National Center for State Courts awarded the Council for Court Excellence the Thomas Munsterman Award for Jury Innovation, in part because of the project Mr. Zarnow managed which comprehensively reviewed jury trials in DC from the perspective of judges, attorneys, and jurors.
Zachary Zarnow graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Legal Studies, and Philosophy from Brandeis University. Zachary then went on to earn their Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law. Zachary has also completed certification programs from the E.U. (European Platform for Youth Development) in Community Development & Youth Political Engagement, the U.S. Peace Corps in Community Mapping & Needs Assessment, HIV/AIDS Stigma and Discrimination, and Social Enterprise Development.
