Ric Sun

Ric Sun is an Advanced Research Engineer at the National Composites Centre, specialising in Automated Fibre Placement (AFP), Automated Tape Placement (ATL), and high-rate deposition technologies for advanced composite manufacturing. With extensive experience gained at the University of Bristol, Ric served as a Senior Research Associate focusing on composite manufacturing process simulations, impact damage tolerance, and structural composite multifunctionality. Prior roles include Research Associate positions at Rolls-Royce Composites UTC and the University of Bristol, as well as a PhD dedicated to impact damage of composite materials. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Impact Damage of Composites and an MEng in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Bristol, complemented by engineering foundation studies at the University of Nottingham.
