Kevin Milan, PhD, serves as the Assistant Chief of the Preparedness Division at South Metro Fire Rescue, focusing on training, emergency management, special operations, and life safety education since September 2007. Kevin is also a faculty member in the Fire & Emergency Service Administration program at Colorado State University, responsible for course design and delivery. As the Colorado State Advocate for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, Kevin acts as a liaison for outreach activities, while also contributing to FireRescue magazine as an editorial board member. Previous roles include Fire Marshal, Captain, and Training Chief within various fire departments, as well as a Senior Project Manager in architecture and an educator at Vail Mountain School. Kevin holds a PhD in Fire and Emergency Management Administration from Oklahoma State University and two additional degrees in Executive Fire Service Leadership and Fine Art.
