Kyler Abernathy is a professional who has been with National Geographic for over two decades, specializing in the development and implementation of tools for research, exploration, and storytelling. Abernathy has a background in wildlife conservation and marine biology, holding both a Master's degree and a Bachelor's degree from reputable universities. In their role as Director of Conservation Systems, they work closely with engineers and partners to deploy technologies that support ecological conservation and research efforts. Prior to this, Abernathy served as the Director of Research in the Exploration Technology Lab, where they led a program focusing on wildlife research utilizing customized imaging technology and collaborating with scientists worldwide. Additionally, Abernathy is involved in various outreach programs to engage the general public on research and conservation topics through film, writing, and editing.
