Natasha Barrett is a National Geographic Explorer and Early Career Grantee, currently leading a project investigating the link between Earth's sub-oceanic mantle and volcanism in the Southwest Pacific Islands since September 2020. Natasha serves as a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at The University of British Columbia, focusing on metal endowment in Canada's lithospheric mantle and its connection to volcanic mineral deposits. Previous positions include Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in Mesoarchean petrology, and Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Alberta, working on highly siderophile element systematics. Other experience includes internships at NASA and CSIRO, along with various roles in global exploration with notable companies like Barrick Gold and AngloGold Ashanti. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Geology from the University of Alberta and multiple degrees in geology and related fields from Australian institutions.
