Juan Sebastian Mayorga is a seasoned Marine Data Scientist currently contributing expertise at both National Geographic's Pristine Seas and the Sustainable Fisheries Group at the University of California, Santa Barbara. With a foundational background in environmental consulting and research, Juan has previous experience as a Science Manager in Training with Ocean Exploration Trust and as an intern with both National Geographic and Ocean Exploration Trust, where data logging and processing for marine exploration were key responsibilities. Additionally, Juan's work with Gradex involved environmental impact assessments for oil and gas projects in Colombia, complemented by research roles focusing on urban air quality and marine environmental impacts. Education includes a Master’s Degree in Environmental Science and Management from the Bren School at UCSB, a Sea Semester in Oceans and Climate, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering from Universidad de Los Andes.
