Matthew Pope

Matthew Pope has gained extensive work experience in the field of geospatial intelligence and analysis. Matthew started their career as an Imagery Analyst with the US Army in 1999 and continued in this role until 2003. Matthew then worked as a MASINT Analyst-Trainer at L3 Technologies from 2003 to 2006. Following that, Matthew served as an Intelligence Specialist (Operations) at the United States Department of Defense from 2006 to 2007 and again from 2008 to 2009. Matthew joined SRA International in 2007 as an IMINT-MASINT Site Lead before transitioning back to the United States Department of Defense as an Intelligence Specialist (Operations). Matthew's career then led him to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, where they held various positions, including Geospatial Intelligence Analyst, Staff Officer (Strategic Engagement), Data Steward, and Student, before their current role as AFRICOM Lead / Data Steward, which they assumed in September 2021.

Matthew Pope completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the years 2014 to 2018. Matthew further pursued a Master of Science degree in Strategic Intelligence from the National Intelligence University during 2020 to 2021.
