Richard Wicka has extensive work experience in the legal field. Richard is currently serving as the AVP, Associate General Counsel Regulatory and Risk at the National Guardian Life Insurance Company since January 2023. Prior to this, they held the position of Chief Legal Counsel at the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) from February 2019 to February 2023. Richard also worked as the Deputy Chief Legal Counsel at the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance from January 2012 to February 2019. Before that, they served as a Staff Attorney at the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals from March 2008 to January 2012. Richard Wicka also worked as an Associate Attorney at Hanson Peters Nye from July 2003 to August 2007, and at Simpson & Deardorff from August 2002 to June 2003. Richard gained experience as a Summer Associate at Foley & Lardner LLP in June 2001-August 2001 and started their legal career as a Legal Intern at the Wisconsin Department of Justice from January 2000 to January 2001.
Richard Wicka completed their Bachelor of Science degree in History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1993 to 1997. Following this, they pursued further education at the University of Wisconsin Law School, obtaining a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree between 1999 and 2002.
