Stephen F. Flatt

CEO & Inside Director at National HealthCare Corporation

Dr. Flatt joined NHC in 2005 as Senior Vice President of Development, and was promoted to the role of NHC’s President in 2009. He became CEO on January 1, 2017.

Prior to joining NHC, Dr. Flatt served as the President of Lipscomb University from 1997 to June 2005, where he oversaw the introduction of the University’s Nursing Program.

Dr. Flatt currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Council for Post Acute Care (CPAC) and the Boards of Directors of The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee and Nashville Inner City Ministry. Dr. Flatt is a member of the Nashville Health Care Council. In 2013, he was a member of the Council’s inaugural “Health Care Fellows” Program led by Senator Bill Frist and was also named one of Middle Tennessee’s “Health-Care Heroes” by the Nashville Business Journal. He received his B.A. degree from David Lipscomb College and his M.S. degree and Ph.D. from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University.
