Sophie Shulman serves as the Deputy Administrator for the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) since January 2023. Prior roles include Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy at the U.S. Department of Transportation from January 2021 to January 2023, and participation in the Biden-Harris Transition as part of the Appointments Team focused on Climate from September 2020 to January 2021. Shulman also held the position of Chief of Innovative Mobility at the Colorado Department of Transportation between April 2019 and September 2020, and Manager of Partnerships & Business Development at Electrify America from April 2017 to March 2019. Previous experience spans roles at the U.S. Department of Transportation and The White House, where Shulman worked as Deputy Chief of Staff in the Domestic Policy Council, among other positions. Educational background includes a Master's degree in American Foreign Policy and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and a Bachelor's degree in International Studies from The Johns Hopkins University.
