Hiroshi Harada

Research Executive Director, Wireless Networks Research Center at NICT

Hiroshi Harada has had a diverse range of work experiences in various organizations. Hiroshi started their career by working at NICT, where they held positions such as Group Leader, Research Manager, and Director. Hiroshi also worked as a Director at the Smart Wireless Laboratory and the Singapore Wireless Communications Laboratory. In addition, Harada served as the Executive Research Director at NICT and as an Executive Visiting Researcher. Hiroshi was also involved in the IEEE Communications Society as a member of the Standard Development Board.

Harada was highly active in the IEEE organization, holding various leadership roles such as Vice Chair for multiple committees including IEEE 802.15.4aa, IEEE802.15.4m, IEEE 802.15.4g, and IEEE 1900.4. Hiroshi also served as the Chair of the Dynamic Spectrum Access Network (DYSPAN) Standards Committee and the Standard Coordination Committee 41 (SCC41). Furthermore, they were part of the Wi-SUN Alliance, where they served as the Chair of the Board of Directors, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, and Chair of the HAN Working Group. Hiroshi was also a Board Director at the WhiteSpace Alliance.

Aside from their industry and organizational involvement, Harada has held academic positions as a Professor at Kyoto University and as a Research Executive Director at NICT's Wireless Networks Research Center. Hiroshi also served as a Program Manager for the ImPACT program under the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan. Harada was appointed as the Chair of the Public Broadband Mobile Communication Development Committee at ARIB.

Overall, Hiroshi Harada has accumulated an extensive and diverse work experience, especially within the IEEE organization, NICT, and various other committees and boards.

Hiroshi Harada pursued their education in the field of Telecommunication. Hiroshi obtained their Ph.D. from Osaka University in 1995, after completing a program that lasted from 1994 to 1995. Prior to this, they also completed a Master of Science (MS) degree in Telecommunication from the same institution. This degree was earned between 1992 and 1994. Their academic journey began in 1989 when they enrolled at Osaka University to pursue a Ph.D. in Telecommunication, which they completed in 1992.
