James Cummins

James Cummins is a seasoned health scientist administrator at the National Institutes of Health since 2009. Prior to this role, James served as a senior project leader at the Southern Research Institute from 2004 to 2009 and as a postdoctoral fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 1998 to 2004. James's earlier experience includes working as a biologist at the Southern Research Institute between 1989 and 1991. Educationally, James Cummins earned a Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, completed in 1998, following a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Millsaps College in 1989.
