David Gardner

VP, R&D & Engineering Management at National Instruments

David Gardner is the Vice President of R&D and Engineering Management at National Instruments. David has over fifteen years of experience in electrical engineering, project management, and budget control.

David started their career at General Electric in Power Conversion, where they worked for eight years as a senior electrical engineer. In this role, they were responsible for the design, development, and testing of electrical equipment and systems. David also oversaw the installation and commissioning of electrical projects.

In 2013, David left GE to join Transocean Onshore Support Services as a Project Engineering Specialist. In this role, they were responsible for the front-end engineering of the electrical work scopes associated with the re-activation of a self-elevating MODU. This included the upgrade and integration of marine, drilling, and safety monitoring and control systems. David was also responsible for budget control, progress updates, and reports to Senior Project Management.

In their current role as Vice President of R&D and Engineering Management at National Instruments, David is responsible for the research and development of new products and technologies. David also oversees the engineering team that designs and develops these products.

David Gardner's educational career began at Glennifer High School. David then went on to study electrical and electronic engineering at Springburn Engineering College.

David Gardner reports to Scott Rust, Senior Vice President of Product R&D. They work with Omid Sojoodi - Vice President of R&D, Software, Kevin Schultz - Vice President of R&D.
