Maria Lê Selmer has a diverse work experience, starting in 2001 at Gap Inc. where they worked as a Sales Associate and Sales Coach until December 2018. In 2003, they worked as a Yonas Lab Research Coordinator at the University of Minnesota until December 2006. From 2005 to 2009, they worked at Fraser as a Direct Support Professional and Personal Care Attendant. In 2006, they worked at Minneapolis Public Schools as a Special Education Assistant and Minneapolis Kids Assistant. Maria also worked at Roseville Area Schools as a Friendship Connection Assistant from 2006 to 2007. In 2008, they joined Roseville Area Schools again as a Classroom Teacher and Targeted Services Supervisor. In 2011, they worked at the National Inventors Hall of Fame as a Camp Director and Instructor. Most recently, in 2018, they started working as an Adjunct Instructor at Saint Mary's University of Minnesota.
Maria Lê Selmer has a strong educational background in the field of education. Maria is currently a graduate student pursuing a PhD in Education Policy and Leadership at the University of Minnesota, a program they have been enrolled in since 2014 and is expected to complete in 2022. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Education (MEd) degree in Elementary Education and Teaching from the University of Minnesota, where they studied from 2007 to 2012.
Maria also holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Foundations of Education: Elementary, which they earned from the University of Minnesota between 2002 and 2006. In addition, they have a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Child Psychology, which they completed during the same period at the University of Minnesota.
Furthermore, Maria Lê Selmer has obtained two additional certifications related to their educational career. These certifications include "5-8 Communication Arts and Literature" and "K-6 Elementary Education," both received from the Minnesota Department of Education.
