Head Of Project Management at National Oceanography Centre

Kristian T. has a diverse work experience, starting with their role as Lead Optronics Engineer at VSS Ltd. from March 2011 to June 2012. During this time, they worked closely with the CEO and CTO in raising funds for the development of a device prototype in the medical devices (dental sector) start-up company.

After that, from June 2012 to August 2016, they joined the University of Southampton as a Programme Manager and Technology Transfer Specialist.

Then, from August 2016 to March 2021, Kristian served as the Programme Manager for the Oceanids Programme at the National Oceanography Centre. This program involved the development of marine autonomous systems and was part of the UKRI/NERC investment in the National Marine Facilities large research infrastructure.

From March 2021 to August 2022, they worked as the Project Management Manager at the National Oceanography Centre.

Currently, Kristian holds two positions at the National Oceanography Centre. Firstly, they are the Programme Director for the Future Marine Research Infrastructure (FMRI) initiative, a UKRI/NERC project aimed at building a sustainable and inclusive research environment to maintain UK leadership in critical marine research. Secondly, they serve as the Head of Project Management.

Overall, Kristian T. has extensive experience in project and programme management, particularly in the marine research and technology transfer sectors.

Kristian T. completed a PhD in Optoelectronics at the University of Southampton from 2007 to 2011. Following that, from 2018 to 2020, Kristian pursued a Level 5 Apprenticeship in Operations / Departmental Manager at the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education. Prior to the PhD, Kristian earned an MPhys degree in Physics, Medical Physics from the University of Exeter, where they studied from 2003 to 2007.

In addition to their formal education, Kristian has obtained several certifications. These include the Project Leadership Programme from Cranfield School of Management in February 2023, the APM Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) from the Association for Project Management in July 2022, the Diploma in Leadership and Management from the Chartered Management Institute in December 2020, the AgilePM Foundation from APMG-International in September 2015, the PRINCE2 Foundation and PRINCE2 Practitioner from APMG-International in June 2014, and the APM Introductory Certificate from the Association for Project Management in April 2014.
