An Tran is a Senior Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) since January 2022, focusing on Time and Frequency Metrology, specifically working with Optical Frequency Combs for optical clock-based timescales and ultralow-noise microwave generation. Previously, An held a Higher Scientist position at NPL, and served as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford, where development of ultra-sensitive continuous-wave cavity-enhanced polarimeters was undertaken as part of the European Commission's Horizon 2020, ULTRACHIRAL Project. Additional postdoctoral research experience was gained at Laboratoire de Physique des Lasers on ultra-high resolution mid-infrared spectrometry, and a Doctoral degree was earned from Université Sorbonne Paris Nord with a focus on frequency-comb-stabilized mid-infrared quantum cascade lasers. Earlier academic roles included a Junior Lecturer position at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, teaching Electronics and Experimental Physics. An Tran holds a Master's degree in Engineering Physics from Vietnam National University and a Bachelor's degree in Physics Teacher Education from Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.
