Simon Hall

Simon Hall is a seasoned professional in the field of optics and photonics, currently serving as a Senior Scientist at the National Physical Laboratory since May 2022. Hall also chairs the CPW172 committee at BSI, overseeing the development and revision of British Standards related to optics and photonics. As the Managing Director and Founder of Optical Analytics Ltd., Hall specializes in optical metrology consulting. Previous roles include Convenor of ISO/TC 172/AHG for standards in augmented and virtual reality, Senior Photonics Engineer at Cambridge Quantum Computing, and R&D positions focusing on holographic optical components at TRULIFE OPTICS LIMITED. Hall's extensive career at the National Physical Laboratory spans over three decades, including roles as Chief Laser Safety Advisor and Senior Research Scientist, with a focus on wavefront sensing and adaptive optics. Hall holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) (Hons) in Applied Physics from UCL, earned between 1987 and 1990.
