Osama Aldirbashi

Head, Newborn Screening Services at National Reference Laboratory

Dr. Osama Aldirbashi joined NRL in 2020 to establish Newborn Screening and Biochemical Genetics lab services. He is a clinical biochemical geneticist certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists. He attended graduate school at Nagasaki University in Japan and completed fellowship training at the Children's Hospital of East Ontario, University of Ottawa, Canada. Dr. Aldirbashi has also received specific biochemical genetics training at Toronto, Calgary, London and San Diego. His expertise spans newborn screening, inborn errors of metabolism, mass spectrometry, quality improvement of screening and diagnostic methods, development of new lab tests and metabolomics biomarker discovery.
