Laura Abshire

Laura Abshire serves as the Director of Food and Sustainability Policy at the National Restaurant Association since November 2012, leading initiatives on energy, environmental policy, and agricultural advocacy. Abshire also oversees the Conserve initiative, promoting environmentally friendly practices among restaurant operators. Prior experience includes serving as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Congressman Mike Ross, where management of legislative staff and oversight of energy and commerce committee work were key responsibilities. Abshire’s early career featured roles as a Legislative Assistant and Summer Associate at notable law firms. Educational credentials include a Juris Doctor degree from LSU Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Speech Communication from Louisiana State University.
