Sylvester Cleary

National Advocate Institution Appointee at National School Boards Association

Sylvester Cleary is an experienced educational leader with a robust background in school board advocacy and governance. Since retiring in May 2016, Sylvester Cleary has served as the President of the Chautauqua County School Boards Association and held the position of Area 3 Director for the New York State Caucus of Black School Board Members, Inc. In addition, Sylvester Cleary founded the Legislative Advocacy Focus Group, aimed at empowering communities to enhance educational opportunities. With prior leadership roles including President of Forestville Central School and significant involvement as an Executive Committee Member and Legislative Committee Chair for the Chautauqua County School Board Association, Sylvester Cleary has consistently worked towards advocating for public education at various levels, including serving as a National Advocate Institution Appointee for the National School Boards Association. Sylvester Cleary’s educational background includes studies at the University at Buffalo.
