Erion Plaku

Acting Senior Advisor For Artificial Intelligence, CISE Directorate at National Science Foundation

Erion Plaku is currently serving as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation (NSF) since December 2023, following a previous role as Program Director at NSF from August 2019 to August 2022. Prior to joining NSF, Plaku was an Associate Professor at George Mason University from August 2020 to December 2023 and held the same position at The Catholic University of America from August 2010 to August 2020. Additional experience includes a Faculty Fellow position at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory in 2014, as well as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Johns Hopkins University from August 2008 to June 2010. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from Rice University, a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Clarkson University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Fredonia.
