National Settlement Depository

National Settlement Depository (NSD) holds the status of the central securities depository of the Russian Federation and is part of the Moscow Exchange Group. NSD was founded on 27 June 1996. NSD offers its clients a wide range of services, including settlement and depository services, OTC trade registration services (repository), collateral management services and information services. NSD settles all on-exchange and the majority of OTC transactions, and services both Russian and foreign securities as the central securities depository. As of now, NSD has accounts with central securities depositories and international central securities depositories of 9 countries, as well as correspondent accounts with a number of the largest foreign and Russian banks. NSD performs the safekeeping of securities of issuers from more than 40 countries. The international rating agency Thomas Murray has assigned NSD an AA- rating as a central securities depository. NSD was recognized by the Bank of Russia as a systemically important central securities depository, a systemically important settlement depository and a systemically important repository. NSD payment system was recognized nationally important. Holding the status of Russia's National Numbering Agency and the Substitute Numbering Agency for the CIS, NSD is authorised to assign international ISIN and CFI codes. NSD also has the status of a Local Operating Unit (LOU) allowing the company to allocate Legal Entity Identifiers (LEIs) to Russian legal entities.
