Jonathan Thompson

Jonathan Thompson has a diverse range of work experience. Jonathan has served as the Executive Director and CEO of the National Sheriffs' Association since 2015. Prior to that, they were the Principal at Refero Communications, Inc. from 2009 to 2015, where they focused on strategic communications and consulting. Jonathan also held various roles in the United States Government, including Director of External Affairs for the US Department of Homeland Security, and Senior Advisor for the Federal Emergency Management Agency from 2003 to 2009. Jonathan was the Vice President of Marketing, Communications, and Events at the Software and Information Industry Association from 2002 to 2003. Jonathan has also worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory as the Director of Communications and External Relations and the Director of Communications, Government, and E from 1999 to 2002. Earlier in their career, they held positions at PGI, Inc. and William J. Kircher & Associates, where they served as a Senior Vice President and Vice President, respectively. Jonathan also worked at the Consumer Electronics Association in various roles from 1993 to 1998. Jonathan's professional experience dates back to 1984, where they held roles such as Executive Director-OSTP, Special Assistant-NASA, and Associate Director-Presidential Personnel.

Jonathan Thompson studied at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1977 to 1981, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Their field of study was Political Science and Government.
