René Galloway Johnson

René Galloway Johnson has extensive experience in engineering and education, holding multiple leadership roles such as Region 2 Chair Emeritus and Lifetime Member of the National Society of Black Engineers since May 2018, alongside serving as Program Coordinator at North Carolina Central University. Johnson has been a Technical Core Team Lead at Black Girls CODE since May 2015, focusing on empowering young women through coding, robotics, and web design. Previous positions include Educator at the SC Governor's School for Science and Math, Worldwide Manufacturing Engineer at Lenovo, and Engineer at IBM, where efforts were dedicated to promoting STEM activities in schools. Involved in community service, Johnson has held various roles at Union Baptist Missionary Baptist Church and is a Life member of AKA Sorority. Educational credentials include a Master of Arts in Educational/Instructional Technology from North Carolina Central University and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University.
