Tirthankar Patnaik

Tirthankar Patnaik, PhD, is a seasoned economist currently serving as Chief Economist at the National Stock Exchange of India Limited since April 2019, focusing on India's macro and financial markets, market microstructure, corporate governance, and ESG considerations. Previously, Tirthankar held the position of Director, Chief Strategist, and Head of Research for India at Mizuho Bank and served as Director, India Strategist, and Chief Economist at Religare Capital Markets. Tirthankar's career in financial analysis began at Citigroup Global Markets and includes research and teaching roles at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research. Tirthankar earned a PhD in Financial Economics from the Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research, a Master's in Statistics from the University of Madras, and a Bachelor's in Mathematics from the same institution. Additionally, Tirthankar was a member of the Board of Statistics at the University of Madras from 2005 to 2007.
