Dr Janson Yap is Chief People Officer at the National University of Singapore, where he oversees human resources policies and processes across the University. He was previously the University’s Chief Risk Officer from 2020 to 2022.
Prior to joining NUS in June 2020, Dr Yap served in various capacities in the Deloitte network. He was Managing Director of Deloitte Consulting based in Bangkok, Thailand before taking on the role of Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific Regional Managing Partner of Risk Advisory Services from 2010 to 2020. He was also a member of Deloitte’s Global Risk Management Team and oversaw various portfolios, including that of Southeast Asia Innovation Leader. Under his supervision, the company’s business portfolio reached USD800 million at the Asia Pacific level.
Dr Yap previously served on various advisory boards including the IT Steering Committee of SkillsFuture and Asia Accounting Research Centre. He currently serves on the advisory board of Tan Hiep Phat Beverage Group in Vietnam.
Dr Yap is also the author of several books including Foresight & Strategy in the Asia Pacific Region (co-authored with Dr. Luke Vander Laan); Wow! How Did You Know That?, a book on intelligent risk management; Average to ACES, a volume on the lives of ordinary people achieving extraordinariness. Why ME? is his latest book, a study on work-culture, employer and employee motivations, expectations and engagements.
His tertiary qualifications include a Doctor of Professional Studies (University of Southern Queensland), Executive Masters of Business Administration (University of New South Wales) and a Bachelor of Science and Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (Monash University). He also holds a Diploma of Biblical Studies from Moore College.
