Alison Tanner

Litigation Senior Counsel, Reproductive Rights & Health at National Women's Law Center

Alison Tanner (she/her) is Senior Litigation Counsel for Reproductive Rights and Health at the National Women’s Law Center. She focuses on litigation to promote health equity and access to reproductive health care. Before joining NWLC, Ms. Tanner was a staff law clerk with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Previously, she was the Steven Gey Constitutional Litigation Fellow at Americans United for Separation of Church and State (AU).

Ms. Tanner graduated magna cum laude from the Georgetown University Law Center, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Georgetown Journal of Gender and the Law, a student attorney with the Domestic Violence Clinic, and an intern with NWLC, AU, Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), the National Center for Lesbian Rights, and Cleary Gottlieb. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Davis in Women’s Studies and Political Science – Public Service. Before law school, she worked in the office of the President of PPFA and for the ACLU’s Reproductive Freedom Project.

Ms. Tanner is a member of the bar of the District of Columbia and is admitted to practice in several federal courts.
