Jie (Chris) Xu, Ph.D. has a strong background in various scientific roles and has contributed to multiple organizations throughout their career. Jie (Chris) Xu, Ph.D. began their education journey in 2007 at Ocean University of China, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Food science and engineering in 2011. After this, in the same year, they pursued further studies at National Taiwan Ocean University and obtained another Bachelor's degree, this time in Food Science and Technology, in 2011.

Shortly after, Jie (Chris) Xu enrolled at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and completed their Master's degree in Food Science and Engineering from 2011 to 2014.

Their educational pursuits continued at Washington State University, where Jie (Chris) Xu achieved a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Food Engineering from 2014 to 2018.
