Greg Zinkel

Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at Natron Energy

Greg Zinkel has over 18 years of experience in engineering and design. Greg began their career in 2003 as a Project Engineer at Decrane Aerospace Corporation / PATS Aircraft Systems, where they lead teams in the redesign of problematic auxiliary fuel system installations in Head of State 757 and 737 aircraft, and acted as a structural analyst for the program. In 2005, they took on a role as a Consultant/Systems Engineer at Toyota Motor Sales, Aviation Business Development Office, where they were responsible for systems and fuselage structure, and developed and analyzed preliminary wing design. From 2007 to 2009, Greg was a Consultant/Lead Design Engineer at Aerovironment, where they led Fuselage Engineering, a team of 8, and was responsible for successfully integrating the payload, propulsion, hydrogen fuel, and avionics systems. In 2009, they became a Consultant/Lead Design Engineer at ITT Avionics, where they were the Lead Design Engineer for a team of 10 on the sponson for the CH-53 helicopter program, and mentored/trained junior engineers in good design practice, fits, and GD&T. From 2011 to 2015, they worked as an Engineering Manager at FF, Inc., where they met build timelines, performed DFMEA, DFM and Interface agreements, design reviews and release processes. From 2019 to 2021, they worked as an Engineering Director at One Business Resource, Inc., where they designed for manufacturing a powered-air COVID mask, worked with Natron Energy to dimension and tolerance lid and PCB fit, and to resolve the tolerancing and design for manufacturing issues with their enclosure. Greg also designed flight control components for a portable mid-range UAV and composite tooling for major aerospace manufacturers. Currently, Greg is a Fellow in Mechanical Engineering at Natron Energy.

Greg Zinkel obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Texas McCombs School of Business in 2002, with a focus on Operations and Information Management. Prior to that, they obtained an MSME from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1995, with a focus on Mechanical Engineering. Greg also holds a certification in Fundamentals of Project Planning and Management from Coursera / UVa Darden School of Business.
