Natalie Balfour

Natalie Balfour is an experienced researcher in the fields of geophysics and seismology, currently serving as the Head of Research at the Natural Hazards Commission Toka Tū Ake since December 2020. Prior to this role, Natalie worked at GNS Science from February 2016 to November 2020, holding various positions including GeoNet Product Development Manager and Science Operations and Data Team Leader. Natalie's earlier career includes a research fellowship at the Australian National University from May 2011 to January 2016 and a research assistant/data manager role at Geoscience Australia in 2005-2006. Academically, Natalie earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Geophysics and Seismology from the University of Victoria (2006-2011) and a Master of Science (MSc) in the same field from Victoria University of Wellington (2004-2005).
