Rachel Smith

Rachel Smith is an experienced wildlife biologist currently working with the Natural Resources Conservation Service since November 2021, focusing on conservation efforts for various threatened and endangered species in southern California. Prior to this role, Rachel served as a Southwestern Riparian Partner Biologist for the American Bird Conservancy, where the focus was on enhancing riparian ecosystems for species such as the Southwestern Willow Flycatcher and Least Bell's Vireo. Rachel's previous experience includes positions as a field biologist at WEST, Inc. and as a bird bander at Welder Wildlife Refuge, demonstrating a strong background in avian ecology and habitat management. Educationally, Rachel holds a Master’s degree in Range and Wildlife Management and a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences from Texas A&M University.
