Derrell Slaughter

Derrell Slaughter serves as the Michigan Clean Energy Advocate at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) since December 2020, following a tenure as a County Commissioner for Ingham County from November 2018 to December 2022, representing the 3rd district. Prior experience includes roles as an affiliated consultant at Public Sector Consultants and a candidate for the Ingham County Commission in 2017. Slaughter's earlier career features significant contributions at the Michigan Public Service Commission, where research and advocacy on energy and telecommunications policies were conducted, along with various internships focusing on diversity initiatives and energy policy analysis. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy from Michigan State University and an Associate's Degree from Lansing Community College.
