Liana Nice

Director of Breeding Sciences at NATURE SOURCE IMPROVED PLANTS

Liana Nice's work experience includes various positions in the field of plant sciences. Liana began their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the National Cancer Institute in 2003 and continued to work there until 2006. Liana then worked as a Hughes Scholar at Cornell University's Department of Entomology in 2006. In 2007, they became an Undergraduate Researcher at Cornell University's Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics.

Liana continued their education at the University of Minnesota, where they worked as a PhD Candidate in the Muehlbauer Lab from 2008 to 2015. After completing their PhD, they joined the University of Minnesota's Department of Plant Pathology as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Young Lab from June to December 2015.

In 2016, Liana began working at the University of Minnesota's Department of Agronomy & Plant Genetics as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Lorenz Lab from January to October. In the same year, they also started working at Nature Source Improved Plants, LLC., where they held multiple roles. Liana began as a Research Scientist and Project Manager from November 2016 to March 2019, then served as the Associate Director of Breeding Sciences from March 2019 to April 2021. Currently, Liana holds the position of Director of Breeding Sciences at Nature Source Improved Plants, LLC. starting from May 2021 until the present time.

Liana Nice completed their BA in Biological Sciences with concentrations in Genetics and Plant Biology between 2004 and 2008 at Cornell University. Later, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Applied Plant Sciences with a focus on Plant Breeding and Genetics from 2008 to 2015 at the University of Minnesota.
