Julie McCarthy has an extensive work experience history. Julie is currently the Managing Director at NatureFinance since December 2022. Previously, they held roles as a Non Resident Fellow at The Brookings Institution, a Civil Society Fellow at The Aspen Institute, and a Senior Advisor to the Chair of the WHO Council on the Economics of Health for All at University College of London/Institute for Innovation in Public Purpose and WHO. Julie also served as the Co-Director of the Economic Justice Program and Soros Economic Development Fund at Open Society Foundations, as well as the Director of the Fiscal Governance Program within the same organization. Julie was the Founding Director of the Open Government Partnership and worked as a Senior Advisor at the Transparency and Accountability Initiative. Additionally, Julie worked as a Franklin Fellow/Peacebuilding Adviser at the United States Mission to the United Nations and as the Deputy Director at the Natural Resource Governance Institute. Julie also held various positions at the Open Society Institute, including Acting Director of the Revenue Watch Program and Program Associate for Globalization Reform/Iraq Revenue Watch.
Julie McCarthy obtained a Certificate in ESG for Investors from Columbia Business School in 2021-2022. Julie also holds a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy and International Relations from Cornell University. Additionally, Julie McCarthy pursued studies in International Relations and Anthropology at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Julie further continued their education and completed a Master's degree in International Relations at Yale University.
