Joshua Weed

Lead Scientist at NatureWorks

Joshua Weed has a strong background in mechanical engineering and research and development. Joshua has been with NatureWorks since 2014, starting as an Applications Engineer and later advancing to roles such as Senior Scientist and Lead Scientist. In these positions, they led various R&D projects focused on product development and improved polymer processing technologies. Some notable achievements include commercializing new extrusion coating grade, developing single-serve coffee capsules and relevant conversion process technology, and incorporating finite element analysis modeling. Joshua also has experience as an Education Chair and Secretary on the Board of Directors for SPE Upper Midwest Section. Joshua holds a Master's of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Baylor University and has interned at UOP Callidus and Geophysical Research Company. Before that, they worked as a Research Assistant at Oral Roberts University, where they assisted in researching affordance-based design in affiliation with reverse engineering.

Joshua Weed attended Oral Roberts University from 2008 to 2012, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.E.) degree with a focus on Mechanical Engineering. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (M.S.M.E.) degree in the field of Polymer/Plastics Engineering at Baylor University from 2012 to 2014.
