Liz Johnson

VP, Technology - R&D Organizational Leader at NatureWorks

Liz Johnson has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Liz is currently serving as the VP of Technology and R&D Organizational Leader at NatureWorks, where they lead the research and development of bio-based materials for the circular economy. Liz started their career at the USAF as an Associate Research Chemist before joining UW Engineered Biomaterials-NSF Center and the University of Washington as a Graduate Student. Liz then worked at SurModics as a Senior Engineer before joining 3M in 2009. At 3M, Liz held various roles such as a Product Developer in Transdermal Drug Delivery, Project Manager, Six Sigma Black Belt, and Global Commercialization Manager. In their most recent role at 3M, they served as the Senior Manager and Global Platform Leader in the Transportation Safety Division Laboratory. Overall, Liz has extensive experience in research, development, project management, and commercialization in the field of materials science.

Liz Johnson's education history begins in 1996 when they attended Macalester College. Liz studied Chemistry and completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in 2000. After that, they pursued further education and enrolled at the University of Washington in 2001. Liz Johnson successfully completed their PhD in Materials Science and Engineering, focusing on Biomaterials, Polymers, and Tissue Engineering in 2006.
