Caleb Kartha Bortles is a field engineer at Navv Systems. Caleb previously worked as a technology commercialization intern at MSU Technologies from September 2019 to January 2021. In this role, they assessed 18 technologies from industries including ADAS, additive manufacturing, machine learning systems, rocketry, shock mitigation design, sensor design, advanced agricultural systems, and advanced biomedical systems. For these disclosures, they performed patentability searches to assess the presence of prior art, reviewed industry information to determine level of market interest, and assessed the level of development, ease of implementation, and startup potential of a given technology. Working in cooperation with the technology manager, they presented their research, assessment, and suggested path for commercialization of the technology to the MSUT board, which was composed of the MSUT technology managers, directors, legal team, and finance team, as well as entrepreneurs-in-residence from the Innovation Center.
