Ahmed Al-Abd has a diverse range of work experience in the field of biomedical research and academia. Ahmed is currently serving as the Biomedical Research Division Head in the Life Sciences department at Nawah Scientific since June 2022.
Prior to that, Ahmed held various positions at the National Research Centre (NRC) starting from August 2004. Ahmed served as a Professor of Pharmacology & Toxicology, Associate Research Professor, Assistant Research Professor, Senior Researcher, and PHD Researcher during their tenure at NRC.
From September 2018 to September 2022, Ahmed worked at Gulf Medical University where they held the positions of Associate Dean Academics - College of Pharmacy, Professor, and Associate Professor.
In addition, Ahmed worked as a Stalk Holder and Chief Scientific Officer at Nawah Scientific from March 2015 to September 2018.
Earlier in their career, Ahmed served as an Associate Professor and Assistant Professor at King AbdulAziz University from July 2012 to August 2018.
Ahmed also had international experience as a Visiting Research Scholar at Northeastern University in 2014, and as a Visiting Research Fellow at The Catholic University of Korea from March 2005 to April 2009.
Ahmed started their career as a Teaching Assistant at Yonsei University in February 2004 and worked there until March 2005.
Ahmed Al-Abd began their education journey in 1995 at Ain Shams University, where they earned their Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy in 2000. Following this, they pursued a Master's degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology at Ain Shams University from 2002 to 2004. Ahmed continued their academic pursuits by enrolling at The Catholic University of Korea in 2005, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biological and Biomedical Sciences in 2009. After completing their Ph.D., Ahmed went on to pursue another Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology at Beni-Suef University from 2009 to 2011. Finally, in 2015, Ahmed joined Northeastern University as a Visiting Scholar to further their studies in Pharmacology and Toxicology.
