Akemi Harrison

Akemi Harrison is an accomplished news professional with extensive experience in various leadership roles within prominent media organizations. Currently serving as News Director at NBCUniversal since August 2019, Akemi collaborates closely with the Senior Vice President of News to oversee content strategy, audience research, and brand development. Previous roles at NBCUniversal include Interim News Director and Assistant News Director, with significant accomplishments such as executing initiatives for NBCU Local in Connecticut. Akemi also held positions at WPXI-TV as Executive Producer, KTVU 2 as News Producer, ABC10 as Executive Producer and Newscast Producer, KTXL FOX40 News as Newscast Producer, and WAPT-TV as Newscast Producer at Hearst Television. Early career achievements include notable recognition as a radio announcer at WOAD, where Akemi was nominated for the Gospel Radio Personality of the Year award.
