João Cotovio

João Cotovio is a knowledgeable scientist currently engaged at Ncardia since February 2023, focusing on process development and large-scale manufacturing of iPSC-derived cells. Prior to this role, João completed a PhD in Bioengineering with a specialization in Cell Therapies and Regenerative Medicine at Instituto Superior Técnico from 2018 to 2023 and contributed to the Stem Cell Engineering Research Group. As a Master's student at the same institution from 2015 to 2017, João conducted comparative studies on cardiomyocyte differentiation of hiPSCs, achieving a top thesis grade of 20/20. Earlier experience includes a trainee position at the Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, where João studied chemotypes and molecular analysis of Thymus caespititius. Educational background encompasses a Bachelor's degree in Biology with a focus on Molecular Biology and Genetics, completed at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa.
