At Rational Software, Randy Newell was the Director of Product Marketing and was responsible for launching a new software category (architected rapid application development, or ARAD) and flagship product (from NeuVis acquisition). In 2003, IBM acquired Rational Software for $2.1B.

Randy Newell then spent 14 years at IBM where they were the Worldwide Director - DevOps, ITSM & Cloud Management Marketing, IBM Cloud. In this role, they built and led a team of marketing professionals that contributed to the worldwide sales pipeline supporting $1B+ businesses for DevOps, IT Service Management, and Cloud Management categories. Randy also participated directly in DevOps acquisition strategy and integration, as well as category creation & management. Under their leadership, IBM Cloud saw $13.7B in revenue (+35% YTY) in 2016.

Randy Newell has a Master of Business Administration from NYU Stern School of Business with a concentration in marketing and international business. Randy also has a Bachelor of Science from Boston University in mass communications with a concentration in advertising and marketing. In addition, they have various professional education credits.
