Job description

Neara is a high-growth, venture-backed Series B, tech company headquartered in Sydney, Australia. Recognized as one of the Times 100 Most Influential Companies of 2024, our vision is to change how the world operates, build and designs critical infrastructure. We work with 75% of the utilities in Australia and New Zealand and are rapidly expanding across the US and Europe. Our mission is to revolutionise the utilities industry with our 3D digital network model, enabling utilities to future-proof their infrastructure and navigate the clean energy transition.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer, who excels in working independently and is backed by a robust skills foundation in Cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes and infrastructure programming. You will be the primary source of technical support for our US and EU team, working to improve the reliability of our SaaS platform, both through issue resolution and by introducing preventative measures. We’re looking for a deeply-technical, hands-on engineer, who loves to develop automation and tooling through software to ensure delivery of mission critical solutions and services.

Our training is fast-paced, designed to enable you to work independently and confidently not only with the software but the wider company. At Neara, you will be part of a team that values your ideas, supports your development, and celebrates your successes. If you are motivated and results-driven, we’d like to meet you.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Provide on-call coverage and support for incident and problem resolution to ‘unblock’ day-to-day activities of the US and EU delivery teams.
  • Help establish support best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise development workflows and continuously improve the production environment through automation and systemization.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for efficient and automated software delivery.
  • Lead efforts in adopting the latest technologies and best practices in DevOps and cloud infrastructure.
  • Share expertise in DevOps practices with colleagues to foster the organisation's overall technical growth and capability

WHO YOU ARE

  • Proficient in cloud infrastructure, encompassing security, networking, etc., across AWS, GCP, Azure, Heroku, or Digital Ocean
  • Experienced with programming in infrastructure-focused languages like Typescript, JavaScript, Golang, Terraform, Pulumi and Python
  • Business Level Fluency in English
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in SRE, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineer roles
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as a Senior Software Engineer or equivalent, focusing on backend systems
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments
  • Knowledge of algorithms and data structures highly desirable
  • Security certifications and professional-level public cloud certifications/experience guiding companies through ISO and SOC2 certifications highly desirable
  • Adaptable and collaborative with a growth mindset

WHAT WE ARE OFFERING YOU

  • Competitive salary and ESOP
  • Flexible hours and working arrangements
  • Significant opportunity for career development and acceleration as one of our first employees in the region.
  • An opportunity to work with multiple cloud platforms in a high-paced environment with cutting-edge tools and technology.
  • Joining Neara means tackling real-world challenges head-on, and immersing yourself in a work environment characterised by high-paced innovation, transparent communication, and impactful contributions.

NOTE: Please submit all applications in English. We require candidates to be able to accommodate at least 4 hours of overlap with Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST) between the hours of 8am and 6pm for the first month of onboarding.
