Erik Simons

System Engineer at Nearfield Instruments

Erik Simons has extensive experience in engineering and scientific software development, currently serving as a System Engineer, Team Lead in Signal Processing, and Software Architect at Nearfield Instruments since May 2019, focusing on real-time imaging pipelines and automated image processing. Prior to this role, Erik worked as a Scientific Software Engineer at ENTER BV and contributed as a PhD candidate at TU Delft from October 2013 to April 2019, where research centered on computational material design and the development of a C++ based finite element code for simulating projectile impact on ceramics. Erik’s earlier experiences include research in numerical modeling and a graduation project on strain localization, along with positions as an intern in structural design and various roles supporting students at TU Delft. Erik holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering and Mathematics in Civil Engineering from Delft University of Technology.
