Ryan Vanderplas

Ryan VanderPlas is a skilled Nuclear Fuels Engineer at Nebraska Public Power District since August 2012, focusing on the design of nuclear fuel arrangements to optimize power, longevity, and safety. Prior experience includes serving as a Graduate Assistant at Iowa State University, where responsibilities included planning a radiation counting lab and building an MCNP cluster, as well as teaching calculus-based classical mechanics and electromagnetism. Additionally, Ryan worked as a researcher at the Nuclear Security Science and Policy Institute, investigating a neutron measuring device for border security. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Materials Engineering from Iowa State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University.
