John McDonald

John McDonald is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the energy sector. Currently serving as Executive Director for Hanwha Energy Australia since September 2022, John also holds the position of Chief Commercial Officer at Nectr, an innovative Australian energy retailer, since May 2019. Prior to these roles, John was the Principal at Daneb Energy Advisory, focused on providing independent energy market advice and solutions. John has held significant leadership positions at Infigen Energy and Alinta Energy, managing renewable energy operations and wholesale energy portfolios respectively. John’s earlier career includes roles as CEO of Aqua Clarus International and General Manager at Energy One Limited, where John established Australia's first merchant electricity retailer. John began their career in business development at EnergyAustralia, contributing to the national reforms of the electricity supply industry. John holds an MBA from the University of Technology Sydney.
