Deasia Hawkins

Deasia Hawkins is an experienced educator with a focus on English Language Arts and special education. Currently serving as an ELA Teacher at Neighborhood House Charter School since June 2021, Deasia previously held positions as a 6th Grade Special Education Teacher at Helen Y. Davis Leadership Academy CPS and as an English Teaching Assistant at Fulbright Association and The French School. With a Master's degree in Teaching from Boston University and a Bachelor's degree in Literature from Hamilton College, Deasia has also contributed to educational support programs as Assistant Director/Program Evaluator at Hamilton Reads and as a Reading Specialist at Camp Ramapo for Children. Additionally, Deasia is the Founder and President of Our Voices, We Speak, an organization dedicated to addressing bullying, self-harm, and suicide awareness within communities.
