Nothing enters the range untasted. Every tea is brewed and every ingredient is cooked with in our own kitchen in Gothenburg before we decide to sell it. It is a small range on purpose: we would rather carry a few things we can fully stand behind than a catalogue we cannot.

Japanese food culture is built on patient craft, from shaded tea fields to slow roasting. We choose products for how they are made and how they taste, not for how well they match the trend of the season, and we take the time to explain the craft behind every item in our journal.

We say exactly where our products come from and who made them. Our teas and pantry staples are sourced directly from small producers in Japan, and we would rather explain a harvest, a roast or a price honestly than dress it up. If we would not serve it at our own table, we do not sell it.

Nekko Kitchen is a Swedish online shop for Japanese food culture, based in Gothenburg and independently owned and run. Every tea and pantry staple in the range is sourced directly from small producers in Japan and personally tested before it is added. Alongside the shop, Nekko Kitchen publishes the Nekko Journal, a guide to Japanese teas, seaweed and umami cooking, with recipes and brewing guides in Swedish and English.
