Ramesh Panchagnula began their work experience in 1990 as a Research Leader and Professor, focusing on the molecular basis of drug delivery and developing methods to assess the quality of anti-tubercular drugs. Ramesh conducted research on a variety of drugs for different therapeutic needs and delivery routes.

In 1998, Panchagnula became a Professor and Head at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), where they conducted bioavailability studies for various drugs, including anti-TB, anti-cancer, cardiovascular, and anti-infective drugs. Ramesh also worked on immediate release formulations, novel drug delivery systems, and fixed-dose combinations.

In 2006, Panchagnula joined Pfizer Pharmaceuticals as the Director and Head of Pharmaceutical R&D. In this role, they were responsible for the development and regulatory CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Control) package for new chemical entities (NCEs) and the life cycle management of existing drug products. Ramesh also coordinated and led the support for Pharmaceutical Sciences.

In 2011, Panchagnula became the Director and Head of the Biotech Hub: Specialty/Biotechnology Operating Unit at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. Ramesh managed the operations of the Biotech Hub and was involved in specialty and biotechnology projects.

Finally, in 2012, Panchagnula joined Nektar Therapeutics as the Managing Director of Nektar Therapeutics India. Ramesh led and managed the Indian organization, ensuring alignment with global objectives and supporting Nektar's business interests. Ramesh was responsible for various divisions and support functions, including research and development operations.

Ramesh Panchagnula has an extensive education history in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. Ramesh first attended Andhra University from 1978 to 1985, where they obtained a Bachelor of Pharmacy and Master of Pharmacy degrees. In 1986 and 1987, they pursued further studies at the University of Strathclyde, earning a Master of Science degree in Pharmacology. Ramesh then attended the University of Cincinnati from 1988 to 1990, completing their education with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Pharmaceutics and Drug Delivery. Finally, in 2009, they obtained a Doctor of Science degree from the University of Strathclyde, focusing on Pharmaceutical Sciences.
