Bethany Whitaker

Bethany Whitaker is a transportation expert with over 20 years of experience in the field. Bethany is currently the Principal at Nelson\Nygaard, a consulting firm specializing in public transit and transit oriented design. Bethany has also served as a Board Commissioner for the Chittenden County Transportation Authority and as a Senior Transportation Planner for Wilbur Smith Associates.

Bethany began their career as a Senior Economist at MVA, where they led or played a leading role in a variety of passenger transportation projects ranging from aviation, rail, bus and ferry studies. Studies focused on developing new services and service attributes to maximize ridership and optimize fare revenue. Major projects included Taiwan High Speed Rail, Railway Development Study, Hong Kong Helicopter Market Analysis and Cathay Pacific Scheduling Analysis.

Bethany is a highly respected transportation professional who has dedicated their career to making our world a more efficient and sustainable place.

Bethany Whitaker has a MA in Public Policy - Urban Affairs and Environmental Policy from University of Washington and a BA in Theirtory and Chinese Studies from Tufts University. Bethany also attended Pingree School.
