Emily Oaksford

Emily’s professional experience in both the public and private sector allows her to understand client needs and expectations, clarifying stakeholder and decision-maker interests into an executable plan forward. Prior to joining Nelson\Nygaard, Emily was a planning consultant developing master plans for federal clients. She worked with clients and stakeholders to produce capital improvement plans, prioritizing building and infrastructure projects based on critical need and estimated cost. Prior to that role, Emily worked for the City of Alexandria as a development review planner, where she guided development projects through zoning and review requirements, ensuring that new developments provided enhancements to public infrastructure, including bicycle and pedestrian connections. Before moving to the DC Metro area, Emily served as a trails and parks planner for a landscape architecture firm in Santa Fe, NM, working with a range of trail users to develop design solutions that could accommodate all ages and skill levels. She is a dedicated bike commuter and a volunteer on DC’s Bicycle Advisory Council.
